Sharron studied art and history at the University of Saskatchewan and Victoria and has been deeply influenced by Post Impressionism and the vision of Canada as developed by the Group of Seven.

Her work is informed by two particular concerns:

  1. Immersion in Landscape: A sense of place, particularly the Cowichan Valley where she has lived since the 1960’s – this entails consciousness of the vegetation and wildlife, West Coast light and color, geology and topography.
  2. Paint on Surface: This has to do with the physical process of painting: brushstroke calligraphy, drybrush, scumbling, but mostly with expressive, spontaneous, energetic, yet exact and economical brushwork.
